About

Cyndy Barbone is an artist based in Greenwich, New York, where she lives and maintains a studio. Working primarily on the handloom, she creates figurative work, inscribing her woven textiles with images that are personal yet have cultural or political references. For her, weaving has been a metaphor for the creation of something other than just cloth, whether a moment or a narrative.

Her work was featured in the VIII International Biennial of Contemporary Textile Art WTA in Madrid in 2019, the IX International Biennial of Contemporary Textile Art, Santiago, Chili, and the X International Biennial of Contemporary Textile Art 25 Years, Miami in 2022.  Awards include the New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in Crafts, which she received twice. Cyndy has an MFA from California College of the Arts and was an adjunct instructor at North Country Community College until January 2023.
